| | NCAA Football Games on VHS or DVD I am
a BIG NITTANY LIONS fan. I grew up in South Dakota, and never saw Joe
Paterno's team play live until they became part of the Big 10. I
remember seeing the movie "Something for Joey" (which I watch
every year in the Fall) and just feel for the whole Nittany lifestyle
with John Cappelletti's Heisman, Joe Pa, and Happy Valley. Every year
since my allegience has just grown. I wish I would have just gone to
school at Penn State. I feel like an alum anyway, going to road games in
my homestate Minnesota and cheering for the Blue and White in my home
stadium. Someday the Gophers will play outdoors and I will get season
tickets for me and my son Nolan. He can be a fan of anyone he wants as
long as it's NITTANY! |
NCAA College Football Games This list is
constantly being added to. Please check back. If you have college games
that feature current Vikings I am interested. If you have any Penn State
Football games that I do not have listed, I am interested. 1970 Orange Bowl Penn State, 10 vs. Missouri, 3
Nittany Lions win 10-3
1971 Penn State, 11 vs. Tennessee 31
Dec. 4, 1971: Tennessee 31, Penn State 11 Penn State went to
Knoxville unbeaten and ranked No. 5, with a Cotton Bowl bid already in
its pocket. The Lions exited having been humbled by a No. 12 Tennessee
team. The Volunteers scored touchdowns on a 76-yard fumble return and a
43-yard interception return. "Their defense made the big play, as it has
all year," Joe Paterno said at the time. "They beat us like they beat
everyone else -- but they beat us worse." Penn State quarterback John
Hufnagel was intercepted twice and lost a fumble. Tennessee All-America
defensive back Bobby Majors, youngest brother of former Volunteers star
player and future Pitt and Tennessee coach John Majors, had a 44-yard
punt return for a touchdown, and also had kickoff returns of 59, 54 and
38 yards on a night when his football-playing family was honored.

Rutledge completes a 30 yard touchdown pass to Bruce Bolton to give the
Tide a 7-0 lead at the half. After Penn State ties the game, Major
Ogilve puts Alabama back on top 14-7 with an eight yard TD run. The
Alabama defense makes an important goal line stand to secure the win.

September 1983 Nebraska 83, at Minnesota Very good
quality vhs of the 1983 Nebraska-Minnesota game from Minneapolis. The
'scoring explosion' really earned their nickname in this one as they
hung 84 on the Gophers. Actual TV broadcast. The 1983 University of
Nebraska Cornhuskers had one of the most explosive football teams of all
time. With an offense that included Heisman trouphy winner Mike
Rozier, and Heisman canidates Turner Gill and Irving Fryer they lit up
the scoreboards with almost unbelievable numbers all season including 84

Miami slaughters the Huskers. Bryant McKinnie plays for the Canes.
There was never really a doubt about who the best team was in the 2002
Rose Bowl¨ game. The Miami Hurricanes showcased a balanced attack that
catapulted Miami to an early 34-0 lead and a 37-14 victory against an
overmatched Nebraska squad to win the National Championship. It probably
wouldnÕt have mattered who was on the other side of the ball on January
3, 2002ÐÐMiami would have won.

beat the 6-6 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Music City Bowl in Nashville,
TN. Marion Barber ran for 187 yards with a touchdown and the Minnesota
defense also scored once and stopped a late Alabama drive, as the Golden
Gophers held on for a 20-16 victory over the Crimson Tide in the Music
City Bowl. Barber carried the ball 37 times and backfield mate Laurence
Maroney chipped in 105 yards on 29 attempts, as the Minnesota duo became
the first backs to break the 100-yard barrier against the tough Crimson
Tide defense this year. The Golden Gophers (7-5) earned their third
straight bowl victory and finished an up-and-down season on a high note.
Minnesota had opened the year with five straight wins, but entered the
bowl game with losses in five of its last six, including three straight
defeats to conclude the regular season.
09-01-05 Minnesota Golden Gophers 41, vs. Tulsa 10,

10-15-05 USC Trojans, 34 at Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 31
Simply the most amazing football game as one of the greatest
football rivalries ever - USC vs. Notre Dame ended in a classic. Irish
quarterback Brady Quinn had given Notre Dame a 31-28 lead with 2:02
left, dashing around right end for a 5-yard touchdown, extending his
right arm across the goal line with the ball With just 2 minutes
remaining, they showed a long list of winning streaks that were ended in
South Bend. For a moment the Irish, dressed for success in kelly green
jerseys, thought they had added another stunning upset to their
illustrious history. Leinart scrambled from inside the 5, launched
himself toward the end zone but was stopped short and the ball was sent
flying out of bounds. The clock kept ticking down to 0:00. Notre DameÕs
fans rushed the field. But after the officials huddled, 7 seconds was
put back on the clock and the ball was spotted inside the 1. Matt
Leinart pushed and spun his way into the end zone with 3 seconds left to
cap a chaotic finish and No. 1 USC escaped with its 28th straight win.

11-12-05 USC Trojans, 35 at California Golden Bears, 10
USC wins their 32nd game in a row. Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, and
LenDale White lead the #1 Trojans. In this game alone we saw Leinart go
over the 3,000 yard mark, we saw LenDale go over 1,000 yards rushing and
we also saw Dwayne Jarrett go over 1,000 yards receiving. Reggie Bush
had gone over the 1,000 yard rushing mark earlier in the year which
means the Trojans have a pair of 1,000 yard rushers for the first time
in school history.

p>2005 UCLA vs. USCDec. 3 USC puts up 66 and heads to
National title. USC had been ranked #1 all season and faced a one-loss
eleventh ranked UCLA (9-1) team as its last obstacle to the dream 2006
Rose Bowl BCS Championship matchup with #2 Texas. USC featured Heisman
trophy winner Matt Leinart and eventual winner Reggie Bush. USC defeated
UCLA 66-19 in one of the most lopsided games of the series since the
first matchup in 1929.
2005 Texas vs. Colorado Big 12 Championship. Texas
Longhorns blow out Colorado 70-3. The quarterback pinned one behind his
ear. The coach cradled an entire bouquet. The Texas Longhorns came out
smelling like roses, with a resounding win that put them one victory
away from the national title that has eluded the program for decades.
Led by four touchdowns from Vince Young, the second-ranked 'Horns put a
Texas-sized thumping on Colorado, 70-3 in the Big 12 championship game
Saturday. Next stop, the Rose Bowl, for the BCS title on Jan. 4 against
top-ranked USC, a 66-19 winner over UCLA in a later game Saturday.
2005 Music City Bowl Minnesota Gophers 31 vs. Virginia 34
Connor Hughes kicked a 39-yard field goal with 1:08 left, and Hagans
threw for a career-high 358 yards in helping Virginia overcome a
14-point deficit to beat Minnesota 34-31 Friday. The Gophers (7-5)
might have been distracted themselves in what could be coach Glen
Mason's final game at Minnesota. He has a year left, but school
officials want to make a decision by Saturday night when they must
either terminate his assistants' contracts or see them roll over to
2006. Minnesota had every opportunity to blow the Cavaliers out and win
this bowl for the third time in four years, but the nation's fifth-best
offense bogged down after taking a 31-24 lead early in the fourth
quarter. The Gophers had one last chance to pull out their fourth
straight bowl victory, but Marcus Hamilton intercepted Bryan Cupito's
ill-advised pass into double coverage in the end zone with 36 seconds
remaining to seal the game for Virginia. It was the Cavaliers' first
bowl win since the 2003 Continental Tire Bowl over Pittsburgh.
2005 Peach Bowl L.S.U. 40 vs. Miami, 3 LSU gave Matt Flynn
all the help he needed to be successful, and then toyed with Miami
before dealing the Hurricanes their most lopsided bowl loss. Flynn threw
two touchdown passes, Joseph Addai rushed for 130 yards and the No. 10
Tigers humbled Miami's proud defense, even running a couple of fake
kicks after the game was a rout, romping 40-3 in the Peach Bowl on
Friday night. Trash-talking between players grew into a postgame brawl
in the LSU tunnel, and Larry Coker, coach of No. 9 Miami, said two of
his players were knocked unconscious.
2006 Fiesta Bowl Ohio Sate 34 vs. Notre Dame 20 Ohio
State's quarterback, Troy Smith, became the frontrunner of the 2006
Heisman race, after he completed 19 of his 28 passes for 342 yards,
including 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Brady Quinn had a great
game too, completing 29 out of his 45 passes for 286 yards. Ohio State
seemed to make big play after big play, having 4 plays of 50 or more
yards in the game. Notre Dame got the 1st score of the game, with a 20
yard touchdown run by Darius Walker. Then Ohio State responded on a 6
play 86 yard drive capped off with a 56 yard touchdown pass to Ted Ginn,
Jr. In the second quarter, off a wide-receiver reverse, Ginn rushed 68
yards to the left side for a touchdown. Then with just over 2 minutes to
go in the half, Troy Smith found Santonio Holmes for an 85 yard
touchdown pass, and Ohio State led 21-7 at half-time.
2006 Rose Bowl Texas vs. USC Vince Young's 8-yard
touchdown run on 4th-and-5 with 19 seconds remaining in the Rose Bowl
lifted Texas to a 41-38 win over USC in a classic national championship
battle between two great football teams on Wednesday night (January
4th). Young was unflappable in leading the Longhorns on a game-winning
56-yard march that began with 2:02 left in the game after USC was
stopped on 4th-and-2. The drive started slowly and was kept alive by a
5-yard facemask penalty after three plays netted just 5 yards. Still,
the game wasn't completely over. Matt Leinart hooked up with Reggie Bush
on a 26-yard catch and run that gave USC the ball at the Texas 43 with 8
seconds left. But on the next play, Leinart scrambled to find a receiver
and the clock ran out on an incomplete pass. There were six lead changes
during the game but it began as a defensive struggle instead of the
offensive battle everyone expected to see. USC led 7-0 at the end of the
first quarter and trailed 16-10 at halftime.

Ohio State 21 at Texas 7 Austin, TX When Troy Smith, Ted Ginn
and the Ohio State Buckeyes rolled in, it was the first time the two
top-ranked college football teams had ever met in Austin. Unfortunately
Anthony Gonzales and James Laurinaitis also made the trip. Together,
they handed the Longhorn their first defeat after 21 consecutive
victories, avenging last year's 25-22 defeat at the hands of Vince Young
and the National Champion team.
