It is Outstanding Quality. The Vikings blow out the Browns 27-7 for their first and only NFL Championship game. Led by Joe Kapp, the Vikings dominate. Outstanding Quality. The Vikings totally crush the the Cleveland Browns and win their first and only NFL Championship. Known for their outstanding defense, the Minnesota Vikings are favorites to beat the Browns in the NFL Championship Game at Met Stadium. Closeup shots before the game show quarterbacks Joe Kapp of Minnesota and Bill Nelsen of Cleveland warming up, as well as coaches Bud Grant and Blanton Collier. Throughout the game, you'll see many of the stars on both teams in action: Nelsen, Walt Sumner, Jim Houston, Leroy Kelly, Bo Scott, Erich Barnes, Gary Collins, John Garlington, Mike Howell, Bill Andrews and Paul Warfield of the Browns, and Kapp, Bill Brown, Gene Washington, Lonnie Warwick, John Henderson, Oscar Reed, Milt Sunde, Paul Krause, Karl Kassulke and Alan Page of the Vikings. Probably the two most outstanding players of the game are the Vikings' Wally Hilgenberg on defense and Dave Osborn on offense.

  The first score of the game comes on a broken play, when Viking QB Kapp runs into Bill Brown. Kapp stays on his feet and rumbles the 7-yds needed for the TD to put Minnesota in front, 7-0. Later in the first quarter, defender Erich Barnes slips and falls, and Kapp hits Gene Washington for a 75-yd TD bomb to give the Vikings a 14-0 lead. Meanwhile, pressure from the "Purple People Eaters" is affecting Nelsen's timing, and the Cleveland running game is stymied. Wally Hilgenberg is leading a defense that is shutting off the Cleveland power sweep. The Viking tandem of Brown and Dave Osborn is moving the ball for Minnesota, but when a drive stalls at the Cleveland 30, Fred Cox boots a FG to up the score to 17-0. Osborn next caps a 60+yd first half with a 20-yd TD run to make the score 24-0 at intermission. The Browns change into sneakers for the second half, but a Paul Krause interception ends a nice Browns drive to open the third quarter. Later, Cox's second FG makes the score 27-0 Vikings. The Browns don't score until the final quarter, when a 3-yd TD pass from Nelsen to Gary Collins makes the final score 27-7. Narrated by Jack Whitaker.

A must have.

Compilation Disks and Homemade Videos from TV Broadcasts
Simply put, a hodge podge of games, highlights and features I have traded for over the years. Once I get these, I try to separate them into individual game/topic disks to make them easier to log into the database.

• 1980 Vikings Highlights & Playoff Clips
  This is a 47 minute homemade compilation of 1980 including week 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 and 12. It also includes Divisional Playoff games, including the Vikings loss to Philadelphia as well as all other NFC and AFC Divisional playoff games. Lots of cool stuff from 1980!
• 1982 Super Bowl Tournament Round 1 & 2
  The Vikings beat the Falcons at the Metrodome 30-24, then lose to the Redskins 21-7 at RFK. In 1982, a strike season, the NFL expanded the "Playoffs" to 16 teams. This is a 40 plus minute compilation of NFL game reviews for all games in that unique one-of-a-kind Super Bowl Tournament. Round 1: AFC: Raiders vs. Browns, Patriots vs Dolphins, Jets vs Bengals, Steelers vs. Chagers, NFC: Lions vs Redskins, Packers vs Cardinals, Cowboys vs Bucaneers & Vikings vs Falcons.   Great summary of a fun playoff run for the Vikings in 1987. Also includes classic AFC footage (John Elway & Broncos, Browns, Oilers Colts, the Drive etc.)
• 3 DVD Set: video yearbook of each season chronicles Viking history .
  I traded for this set, which is low end video quality, and the volume on many of these is barely audible in some cases. Many of these games have been re-dubbed, and are now in the GOTW collection above as indiviudal games. The audio was boosted so they are better quality as individual games.
